![]() In the end, it's less of an assassin's creed game, and more of a pirate game that's sailing under a shitty ubisoft flag, and i've poured countless hours into it, despite loathinf the rest of the franchise. Plus you can collect sea shanties for your crew to sing while you sail :D it's kind of a set it and forget minigame so don't expect it to be too exciting, but it's definitely a fun little time sink to dip into every so often. you can send ships you capture on timed trading missions, which generates currency and upgrade materials, and uses some of the materials you capture from ships. the swashbuckling is pretty good, and you can customize parts of your ship, gear, and outfit once you find/unlock stuff. However, the piracy parts are fantastic, and the sailing and naval combat are great. You have to put up with a lot of ubisoft nonsense, like the eye-rolling, map-unlocking tower climbs, semi-pointless DLC, menus that advertise ubi products and services, and the assassin's creed parts of the story line make you want to gouge your eyes out. So - am I out of luck? Does anything like this exist?Īssassin's creed black flag meets a good portion of the ticks on your list. ![]() I don't demand 4k (though I do have a 4k monitor) - but widescreen 1080p, and looking like it was made in the last few years would be nice! I would like trading, quests, diplomacy, and maybe even some land based exploration (like hunting down buried treasure in Pirates! - but. ![]() I want some sailing and naval combat, but I don't want that to be the only thing in the game. I definitely want to be able to build up a fleet. Lacking that, I like being able to customize my ship like Pirates, with various outfits and hulls and sails and etc. I would love to build custom ships, from the ground up - but I doubt that would be a thing. I really don't care about multiplayer at all. I would like a single player game, with a decent storyline (even if cheesy). I mean, maybe I could enjoy it, but in the hour or so that I gave it so far, not a single thing drew me in and made me want to keep playing. I bought Windward on Steam, since it was on sale. (It followed on the heels of my wife getting me to rewatch Pirates of the Caribbean with her, which made me decide to play a pirate game, lol.)Īnd while it is still a fun game, it just feels lacking compared to many games I have played since. Just replayed Pirates, after not having touched it for years.
